New Mexico Captioning and RealTime

Captioning and CART technology has proven helpful for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals for many years, and in many situations. Most of the more than 20 million deaf and hard-of-hearing people in the United States developed hearing loss after acquiring language skills. Many of them find it easier to read realtime text than to use American Sign Language.  In addition, Captioning and CART have proven to be a valuable learning tool for people with learning disabilities, physical challenges or people with English as their second language.  Providing Captioning and CART in many applications allows access for hard-of-hearing people in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
